The Calm After The Storm.

Hello! Hello! Hello!!! Wow, it’s been such a long time since I’ve posted and I’ve missed you so much. My mind was just not in the right place to write and share. I took living A Kinder Way to the max people! I was in desperate need of some serious self-kindness these last couple of months so I put my money where my mouth is so to speak and I cut myself some serious slack.

So what’s been going on??

We moved after living in the same home for almost 8 years.  The only real home we have had here in Texas. If you remember, it was a rental from our Uncle and he decided to sell it. We found out he had put it on the market the day before the realtor wanted to have a photographer come in take pictures!

What followed was a whirlwind of crap.  Yes, I’m going with ‘whirlwind of crap.’ It paints the visual that most accurately describes the way the last 2 months have felt.

We were forced to make the choice on whether we wanted to ride it out in our home and see if the new buyers wanted to keep renting it to us…if they would want the home for themselves…how much the rent and bills would change….

But most importantly, we had to decide how long we were willing to live in that uncertainty.  I don’t really rock the limbo thing very well.

We decided to start looking for a new place and just wait and see what happened. Well we found our new place as I shared here: Our New Home

So just about 2 months after finding out about the house, we moved into our fancy-schmancy new apartment!!!

The move went surprisingly well. It was a lot of work but totally worth it.

We’ve been here for about 3 weeks now and we’re totally settled in. It felt like home right from the start.  Don’t you just love it when that happens?

That’s not to say it hasn’t been a huge adjustment though. Going from a duplex with a fenced in yard on a quiet street to apartment living…no matter how right it is…. is going to take some adjusting!

But we’re getting there. It’s just a whole lot of activity and noise that I know we will learn to block out over time.

This is a furry family member friendly place. Vivi is loving it.  She is, of course, the Queen Bee (if only in her head) and she monitors things as any Queen would.

She loves going for several walks a day and she is getting a little better at sharing her space with all the other queens (and kings).

All said …..we are happy.

This was the right choice for us. Sometimes when it feels as if life is kicking your ass, it’s really just pushing you to get out of your rut and embrace some much-needed change. That’s what this was for us anyway. It was time for us to move on and without the whirlwind of crap….we would have stayed in a place we were settling for.

That’s enough for today!

So much more to catch you up on. Other major life changes to share! Stay tuned if you’re inclined! ❤

I’ve missed you!!

Thanks for reading~

  2. I was just talking to someone this morning about embracing change as opposed to fighting it. So glad the move’s worked out for you guys and that Queen Vivi is adjusting. Hugs from me to you Nikki xo ❤️

  3. Oh Nikki, welcome back! I’m so happy to see you blogging again, and I’m really glad that you took the hiatus to take care of yourself. Self-kindness is key. Funny, I picked an angel card today that said “Tenderness” (plus another one that said, Adventure 🙂 and Transformation!)

I am seeing your home enfolded by joy, peace, love, and great celebration. I hope you know how much I support YOU!
Blessings to you, Steve, and Vivi. 🙂 🙂 🙂

    Love and Light,

  4. Awwwwww Nikki’s back!!!! Yay!!!!!!

*Jumping up and around the blog*

I am so glad to get fresh news!! It was a great idea to take time to handle all that was coming your way… Blogging is fun, and it can help vent some things out, but it remains a “hobby”.

Your new home looks just lovely, and Vivi sure looks like she loves it already! You are so right about how life sometimes throws challenges our way to force us to change… Settling might be easier, but it is a lot less rewarding!

    Have a great week!!

    Enjoy your new home.
Hugs your way from me 💐💕

    1. Hello Di! Thank you and yes…it feels as if all the pieces came together quite nicely. These are the teachable moments in our life that if we’re smart or maybe lucky…we remember when the next whirlwind comes to town. I am grateful for the shake up now that I have some distance. ❤ hugs to you

  6. NIkki, I am so pleased you are all settled and happy in your new home. If Vivi is happy you all are happy 🙂 I must say she looks very comfortable in her new surroundings …..just watch she doesn’t pick up all the habits of The Queen, I am thinking more so of the midday Gin 🙂 Take care Hugs xxx

    1. It seems near impossible at some points in the search. To be very honest had we not pretty well been forced into the decision we probably would have stayed put (and unhappy) for many more years. The pull of ‘easy’ can really suck you in. 😉
I wish you loads of luck in finding your new home!
      My one tip….don’t settle! 🙂

  7. A whirlwind of crap…what a perfect way to sum it up! So happy you have found a new home and are settling in, Nikki. It warms my heart to hear that you cut yourself some slack, stepped back and took care of yourself. You are a beautiful soul and deserve all the happiness in the world! xo

  8. Ha @ the phrase “whirlwind of crap.” That needs to be a new catch phrase, and I have been through my own share of crap whirlwinds. So I like it.
Moving sucks, but your new place is beautiful!
